Our Mission Statement
The purpose of the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee is to provide Catholic Scouts and Scouters continued education in the Catholic Faith using the Scout Law and Scout Oath and an opportunity to earn Religious Awards as a result of their greater involvement in their Faith.
On behalf of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting we want to welcome you to our home on the World Wide Web. Catholic Scouting is a unique and special ministry of the Catholic Church and as such it is the goal of the committee to provide a number of enjoyable activities for scouts and leaders. We offer Religious Emblem training opportunities for adults including "spiritual formation." It is our desire to aid and assist every Catholic Scout leader to develop a special relationship with God. I personally would like to invite each of you to participate in the activities of the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting.
All Catholic Scouters and those interested in Catholic Scouting as a spiritually-based youth ministry of the Catholic Church are invited and urged to attend the meetings of the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting. We meet on the third Wednesday of each of the following months: February, April, June, August, October, December. Since our committee represents the entire Archdiocese, we make an effort to have our meetings at different parishes in the Archdiocese. Please consult our calendar for the date, time and location of each meeting. Our meetings are an opportunity for each of us to meet, exchange ideas and provide suggestions where appropriate. As we have all heard the harvest is bountiful but the workers are few; please consider attending one of our meetings. We always begin promptly at 7:00 PM and will usually conclude shortly after 8 PM. A time is permitted for open forum, to ask questions and to possibly suggest some helpful approach, idea or programming. Remember in Catholic Scouting it matters little if a youth is totally proficient in all the traditional Scouting skills (such as knots, hiking and other activities) if that youth has not significantly grown in his love and knowledge of Our Lord Jesus Christ while participating in these traditional activities. Whether you are a Wood Badger or have not even taken New Leader Essentials training, the ACCS offers you an opportunity to become proficient in what it takes to bring Jesus to the center of your Scouting efforts. We welcome you and urge you to attend.
